This position is a one-year term with the possibility of renewed funding.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Responsible for the assessment of a client’s recreational and leisure needs, setting realistic goals/objectives with clients and their families/supports;
  • Provides direct Recreational Therapy and Family support services, including screening, assessment, intervention, consultation, knowledge transfer, aftercare and treatment services;.
  • Assists the Eskasoni Mental Health Services, Health Center Medical staff and ACCESS-OM Teams in developing and implementing programs and activities, including sport/recreation/ cultural/traditional.
  • Provide client and family centered care which enables clients to acquire skills, knowledge and behavior that will allow them to incorporate positive recreation and leisure experiences as part of a healthy lifestyle approach.
  • Will work with Youth Peer Support Workers to increase their skills and build capacity
Requirements

Successful Candidates Will Have:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Recreation with an emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation or a Bachelor of Science in Therapeutic Recreation and be Registered, or eligible to be registered, with a governing and licensing Board.
  • At least (1) one year relevant experience in the delivery of a full range of recreational therapy services.
  • Take charge attitude with the ability to problem solve;
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced growing community health/mental health care facility;
  • Current First Aid, CPR, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification.
