Job Title: Economic Development Assistant

Approximate start/end date: July 5 – August 30, 2022 (negotiable)

Duration of term: 8 weeks

Location:  Victoria County – Baddeck Office (remotely up to 2 days per week).

Reporting to the Economic Development Officer (EDO), or designate, you will assist with the following duties:

  • Assist the EDO with writing internal and external communications to various stakeholders and collaborators.
  • Provide administrative support to the EDO or designate.
  • Communicate with business clients and partnering organizations as directed.
  • Market research on various industries, products, and businesses.
  • Data analysis.
  • Assist with other Cape Breton Partnership initiatives as required.

Additional Opportunities:

  • Cape Breton-wide networking with a broad range of sectors, media relations, Investor relations, stakeholder management, strategic planning, as well as the promotion and marketing of the Cape Breton Partnership brand and other investor brands.
Requirements

Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident to qualify for the funding.

Must-have Skills and Qualifications:

  • A positive, optimistic attitude.
  • Strong English communication skills (verbal, written) and attention to detail.
  • Solid organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Good analytical skills and ability to conduct sound research.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgement.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a small team.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and efficiently with minimal direction.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Must be a youth between the ages of 15-30 to qualify for the federal funding.

Nice-to-have Skills and Qualifications:

  • A keen interest in adventure tourism and Cape Breton trail system.
  • Experience working with software and digital tools, i.e. Canva, Acrobat, Zoom, and Buffer.
  • Experience using Facebook Ads Manager for ad creation and analytics.
  • Knowledge of up to date social media trends and practices.
