Aphasia Nova Scotia is seeking passionate and community-minded volunteers to support our mission of helping adults living with aphasia—as well as their families, friends, and caregivers. Aphasia is a communication disorder caused by stroke or brain injury, and our organization provides essential resources, peer support, social connection, and public education.

We are currently recruiting for the following volunteer roles:

Community Outreach Coordinator: This position involves reaching out to local organizations and businesses with the goal of spreading awareness of Aphasia Nova Scotia. This could include news outlets, clinics, and other aphasia-related organizations. Monthly time commitment: 3-4 hrs 

Fund Coordinator: The role involves keeping a running list of grants and preparing applications as needed. You will also reach out to businesses regarding potential partnerships and sponsorships. This work is done in conjunction with the outreach coordinator and includes collaborating with volunteers to organize fundraising events. Additionally, you will work closely with the CPEC chair and board. Monthly time commitment: 3-4 hrs 

General Events Volunteer: This position involves attending occasional community events to increase public awareness and support fundraising efforts. Monthly time commitment: 1-2 hrs 

General Café Volunteer (Sydney NS & other locations): This position involves supporting or attending our Aphasia Cafes. We host cafes across Nova Scotia and virtually.  Monthly time commitment: 1-2 hrs
