Description
L’Arche Cape Breton is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Property Coordinator to oversee the long-term development, upkeep, and maintenance of L’Arche Cape Breton’s properties, buildings, and vehicles. This role will focus on high-level coordination and management, working closely with staff and external contractors to ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of our facilities.
Role Description:
- Long-Term: The community has three properties, seven Homes, eight Day Programs, a fleet of vehicles and other multi-purpose buildings, and the Property Coordinator’s responsibilities include:
- Develops and implements long-term plans for property development, upkeep, and maintenance.
- Makes recommendations for major repairs and purchases to the Executive Director and/or Infrastructure Committee.
- Oversee procurement processes, including seeking estimates, obtaining quotes, and arranging for major repairs and upkeep of resources.
- Maintains inventory control over community equipment and supplies.
- Licensing and Fire Marshall: Conducts monthly inspections of the houses, programs, other buildings and vehicles to ensure compliance with the regulatory bodies such as the Fire Marshall, Licensing Services of the Department of Opportunities and Social Development, and Department of Labour, Skills, and Immigration.
- Day-to-Day Maintenance:
- Oversees and coordinates maintenance activities, including scheduling and prioritizing tasks.
- Ensures properties, buildings, and equipment meet all safety, security, and fire regulations and policies.
- Supervises and coordinates the work of the General Maintenance Worker and external contractors to ensure timely and effective response to urgent work/repair needs.
- Carries out risk management activities and ensures compliance with relevant regulations and policies.
- Works collaboratively with the Homes Coordinator, Programs Coordinator, and Office Administrator.
- Sits on the Infrastructure Sub-Committee and Community Infrastructure Committee.
- Emergency Response: Coordinates responses to unprecedented emergency needs associated with the buildings, properties, and vehicle.
- Reporting: Completes and maintains related records such as maintenance logs and security incident reports.
