Description

L’Arche Cape Breton is seeking a reliable and skilled General Maintenance Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with the Property Coordinator to perform routine maintenance, repairs, and improvements to our property, buildings, and vehicles.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and improvements to buildings, grounds, and equipment.
  • Respond to urgent repair needs and prioritize tasks accordingly.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Liaise appropriate tradespeople when needed.
  • Fulfilling tasks such as painting, minor carpentry, and finishings.
  • Groundskeeping and landscaping.
  • Supervised by the Property Coordinator and collaborates with other staff members to ensure proactive upkeep and maintenance procedures are in place.
  • Maintain records of maintenance activities, including work orders and inventory management.
  • Transports equipment, furniture, and supplies. Operates a motor vehicle to pick up and move goods and supplies. Arranges furniture for special events.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in maintenance and repair work
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Physical ability to lift, carry, and maneuver heavy objects
  • Valid driver's license
