The Grand Narrows Waterfront Development Society (GNWDS) is a volunteer-led non-profit dedicated to revitalizing the historic Grand Narrows waterfront. At the heart of our efforts is the Wheelhouse Café, a seasonal community café offering fresh food, stunning views of the Bras d’Or Lake, and a welcoming space for residents and visitors alike.

For the June–September 2025 season, we’re hiring Cooks to join our kitchen team. This year, we’ve revamped our menu to feature simple, fresh, modern food suited to a casual seaside café. All ages are welcome to apply. Experience is an asset, but we’re happy to provide training.

Position Details:

  • Seasonal role: June–September
  • $18/hour + participation in the tip pool
  • Weekend availability required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook menu items to café standards
  • Ensure food presentation is consistent and high quality
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen
  • Properly store food and monitor ingredient quality
  • Wash and organize dishes, cookware, and utensils
  • Assist with inventory tracking and supply needs

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous cooking or kitchen experience is an asset
  • Ability to follow food safety and sanitation protocols
  • Team-oriented and reliable with strong communication skills
  • Food handling certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • High school diploma or equivalent
