Title: Social Media Coordinator

Position: Full Time Permanent (37.5 hrs/week)

Hours of Work: Monday – Friday, 8:30AM – 4:30PM, hybrid schedule with one work-from-home day every Thursday, with some evening and weekend commitments when required.

Job Location: Sydney, NS

Proposed Start Date: As soon as possible

Compensation Package: Annual salary starting at $45,000, negotiable based on commensurate knowledge and experience. Two (2) weeks’ vacation plus paid time off between Christmas and New Year's, summer flex time on Fridays (July and August), paid sick time, health and dental benefits, access to a YMCA corporate membership, professional development and more!

Reporting to the Marketing & Client Relations Manager, the Social Media Coordinator is responsible for, but not limited to, comprehensive social media management, encompassing on-site content creation (photo/video), editing, captioning, and scheduling across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok. The Social Media Coordinator will also support strategy development, engage with online communities, coordinate client contests, stay current with social media trends, and provide flexible campaign support to maximize performance.

This individual will work closely with the Marketing & Communications Specialist and the creative team to successfully deliver client social media strategies, meeting client goals and key performance indicators (KPIs).

Core Accountabilities:

  • Content Creation: Conduct on-site visits and attend events to capture photo and video content for clients in various industries.
  • Social Media Management: Create captions, edit photo and video content, and schedule content on social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok.
  • Strategy Support: Work with the Marketing and Communications Specialist to assess and suggest opportunities to elevate social media strategy and performance.
  • Online Engagement: Monitor conversations, proactively engage with online communities, and provide feedback online when appropriate.
  • Coordinate Contests: Organize social media contests and prize fulfillment.
  • Stay Informed: Be an expert in the field of social media. Stay up to date on best practices and emerging trends to maximize key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Campaign Support: Support client campaigns through social media content creation with a flexible, can-do attitude.
  • Use project management software and social media scheduling tools to keep projects organized and timelines on track.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the team and collective goals of the Anchored Group.

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Public Relations, Marketing or similar is required.
  • Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years’ experience in social media creation is required.
  • Must be comfortable travelling to client locations and working independently on campaign shoots and capturing content.
  • Have a passion for creating stories through social media that target audiences and can adjust content to various mediums.
  • Have exceptional writing and editing skills to ensure all content is grammatically correct.
  • Are able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, while being able to adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Are able to provide a high degree of professionalism, integrity, and confidence when representing the Anchored Group.
  • Have exceptional communication (written and oral), interpersonal, and client-facing skills.     
  • Have strong organizational and attention to detail skills.
  • Are a flexible and reliable team player, with the ability to work independently.
  • Are able to provide a clear criminal record check.
  • Valid Nova Scotia driver’s license and reliable transportation is required.
  • Reliable vehicle and flexibility to work occasional evenings/weekends for client events or shoots is required.
