This ten-month position will provide meaningful work experience in various aspects of the earth sciences sector while enriching the work of ACAP Cape Breton’s Habitat Restoration team. The Applied Ecology Coordinator will bridge the gap between scientific knowledge and applications in the field to solve real-world problems. Working with our senior habitat restoration managers and ACAP’s interdisciplinary team, this coordinator position will be focused on supporting the development and implementation of strategies to conserve, steward, restore, and mitigate impacts to ecosystems in Cape Breton/ Unama’ki.

The Applied Ecology Coordinator will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Field Work (50%)

  • Knowledge Acquisition and Communication (35%)

  • Community Connections and Events Coordination (15%)

INTERN ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

  • Between the ages of 15 and 30 (inclusive)
  • Be a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Protected Person as defined by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act;
  • Not currently be in school;
  • Self identifies as Indigenous, youth living with a disability, or a woman, or a racialized youth or a youth who are living in a Northern or Remote community;
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada; and
  • Be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
