Tajikeimik is the new and developing health and wellness organization that is leading health transformation on behalf of Mi’kmaw communities in Nova Scotia. In collaboration with Chiefs, Grand Council, and Health Directors, Tajikeimik will build on and evolve the health and wellness services and programs used by Mi’kmaw people in Nova Scotia; improve health service delivery; and strengthen coordination with Federal and Provincial health system partners —with the goal of improving overall health for Mi’kmaq and communities. Position overview:
Tajikeimɨk is seeking a Tajikeyumk Facilitator to join our Mental Wellness and Healing team. Reporting to the Director of Mental Wellness and Healing, the successful candidate will support planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of community-based projects, engagements, initiatives, and activities that advance mental wellness and wholistic healing throughout Mi'kmaw communities in Nova Scotia. The Tajikeyumk Facilitator serves as a key connector between Mi'kmaw communities, partners, stakeholders, and the Mental Wellness and Healing team. The position is responsible for coordinating meetings and engagements, supporting project implementation, conducting research and environmental scans, preparing reports and summaries, and ensuring initiatives are completed in accordance with established timelines and deliverables.
What you’ll do:
Specific responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:
• Lead and facilitate community circles, working groups, committees, and project teams in support of Mental Wellness and Healing priorities.
• Build and maintain meaningful relationships with Mi'kmaw communities, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, partners, stakeholders, and service providers.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned projects and initiatives, ensuring consistent communication, engagement, and follow-up.
• Coordinate and monitor project activities, timelines, deliverables, and outcomes across multiple initiatives and engagements.
• Support the planning and facilitation of community engagement sessions, gatherings, workshops, and collaborative discussions.
• Prepare reports, summaries, presentations, and briefing materials arising from project work and community engagement activities. Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to advance Mi'kmaw-led approaches to wellness, healing, and health transformation.
• Support the monitoring, evaluation, and continuous improvement of programs, projects, and community initiatives.
• Promote respectful, culturally grounded, and relationship-based approaches to engagement and collaboration.
• Promote self-care, personal empowerment, and emotional resilience through therapeutic exercises and experiences.

Your qualifications:
• Diploma or degree in Community Development, Indigenous Studies, Social Work, Health Promotion, Public Administration, Project Management, Recreation Therapy, Human Services, Education, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
• Minimum three (3) years' experience coordinating projects, programs, committees, community initiatives, or stakeholder engagements.
• Experience working with Mi'kmaw communities, Indigenous organizations, governments, or community-based service providers is considered a strong asset.
• Experience facilitating meetings, gatherings, working groups, committees, or community engagement activities.
• Demonstrated experience building and maintaining positive relationships with diverse partners, stakeholders, and community members.
• Experience preparing reports, summaries, presentations, and other project related documentation.
• Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines simultaneously.
• Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel throughout Mi'kma'ki.
• An up-to-date Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
