Description
The Recreational Programs Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and running Sport and Social Club of Cape Breton activities and programs over the summer. A good fit for this role will be comfortable engaging in social situations and adept at creating inclusive and welcoming spaces through leading by example. As a frontline representative for SSCC, they play an essential role in fostering a welcoming and engaging atmosphere at all SSCC events. Responsibilities include:
Assisting with regular programming (weekly drop-in ultimate frisbee, soccer, badminton and/or basketball). Duties may include greeting participants, setting up equipment, updating participant waivers, taking payments, time keeping, and explaining rules.
Moderating sports/events to ensure that all participants feel welcomed, included, and comfortable in SSCC spaces.
Ensuring that events have all the required equipment, first aid kits, waivers, and policies.
Maintaining accurate records of program attendance, expenses, and other relevant information, and preparing reports on program outcomes and impact.
Developing new recreational programs based on the interests of participants and SSCC’s mandate.
Researching current trends and best practices in sport and recreation programming.
Collaborating with directors and marketing staff on promotion to ensure new programs reach underrepresented and underserved populations.
Organizing and coordinating special events, tournaments, and/or social activities, such as regular board game nights. Tasks may include securing necessary resources and facilities for events.
Developing and managing budgets for new programs and events.
Providing information about SSCC programs at local markets or events.
Evenings and weekends required.
