About the
Role
The Port of
Sydney Development Corporation is seeking a dynamic and strategic Manager,
Marketing & Business Development to lead marketing initiatives,
strengthen community relationships, and support the continued growth of the
Port as a key economic driver in Cape Breton. This role blends creativity with
strategy—ideal for someone who thrives in digital marketing, stakeholder
engagement, and sustainable development within a fast-evolving industry. This
is a 12-month term position.
Key
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all social media channels, including
content creation, audience targeting, and performance analysis
- Develop and implement comprehensive marketing
strategies to attract new opportunities and retain existing partners
- Create compelling digital and multimedia content
for websites, advertising campaigns, and social platforms
- Work collaboratively with management team to
execute marketing strategies
- Build and maintain strong relationships with
community partners, volunteers, and service providers
- Support and promote a positive public presence for
the Port within the local community
- Collaborate with stakeholders across cruise,
downtown development, and government sectors to advocate for port growth
- Identify and support new development opportunities
within the port, including infrastructure and service improvements
- Monitor environmental trends and lead initiatives
that align with evolving sustainability standards in the marine and cruise
industries
- Support the Port’s transition toward sustainable
operations
- Develop proposals, business plans, and funding
applications
Qualifications
& Experience
- Degree or diploma in Marketing, Communications,
Business, or a related field
- Experience in digital marketing, social media
management, and campaign execution
- Strong content creation skills (writing, editing,
and basic design)
- Ability to analyze data and translate insights into
actionable strategies
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building
skills
- Experience working with diverse stakeholders across
public and private sectors is an asset
- Knowledge of sustainability practices or
environmental standards is considered an asset
