Description

The Department of Biology in the School of Science & Technology at CBU invite applications for Sessional Instructors in Biology. These courses will be offered over the 2026 academic year, with the earliest one starting in January, 2026. Subject to budgetary approval.

About the Role:

The successful candidates will be part of a team to deliver undergraduate courses with labs in BIOL1101 Cell and Molecular Biology I, BIOL2203 Human Anatomy, and/or BIOL2204 Human Physiology for Nursing. This position will involve either in-person teaching on campus or teaching within the community. The community locations may include Whitney Pier or Eskasoni.

Key Responsibilities:

The Biology Department is seeking candidates who demonstrate flexibility and range in their teaching, a commitment to innovative pedagogy, and a dedication to fostering inclusive classroom environments. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with colleagues to deliver courses and support an interdisciplinary learning experience. We especially welcome applicants who show a strong commitment to student-centered undergraduate education.

Qualifications & Skills:

If interested in teaching the lecture component of a course, candidates must have as a minimum a MSc in Biology or equivalent degree with relevant experience teaching at the university level. Candidates with a record of interdisciplinary University teaching in-community are preferred. A commitment to using evidence-based teaching methods in the classroom is also preferred.

If interested in teaching the lab component of a course, candidates must have as a minimum a BSc in Biology or equivalent degree. An MSc in Biology is preferred. Relevant work experience and safety training in a laboratory setting is considered an asset but not mandatory. Previous lab instructor experience at the post-secondary level is also considered an asset but not mandatory.
