Reporting to and in collaboration with the Vice-President, Service and Innovation, the Director of Information Technology and Information Management is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive strategy that drives innovation and digital transformation to meet Marine Atlantic’s strategic goals. Additionally, the Director will oversee compliance, manage risks, and ensure protection of all information through a robust program that aligns with both regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Core Accountabilities:
- Lead the development and execution of Marine Atlantic’s Information Technology and Information Management strategy to enable the strategic objectives as per the Corporate Plan.
- A strategic leader who thrives on building strong, collaborative teams and fostering a culture of growth, innovation, and mutual respect.
- Serve as a strategic leader enabling innovation and digital transformation across the organization, championing emerging technologies and modern solutions that enhance operational efficiency, service delivery, and long-term growth.
- Build and maintain effective business relationships with key stakeholders that are deemed critical to enabling or developing Marine Atlantic’s business strategy.
- Develop partnerships and collaborations with internal and external stakeholders, including innovation bodies and research institutions, to explore new opportunities and stay at the forefront of industry advancements.
- Ensure Marine Atlantic’s compliance with any legislation, regulations or directives pertaining to, but not limited to, Access to Information, Cyber Security, IT systems, and Information Management and Privacy.
- Responsible for the negotiation and renewal of all IT/IM service contracts that are required to fulfill the mandate of the role.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual department budget and review monthly finance reports, preparing monthly variance reports and making adjustments as required.
- Assist in the accomplishment of company objectives by performing other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
- University Degree in a relevant field such as, but not limited to a Bachelor of Science, Business, Information Technology, or Engineering degree.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience in a related senior management role, minimum of ten (10) years of total experience in a relevant role, or a combination of equivalent education, job-related training, and experience in a related position is required.
- Master of Business Administration (MBA) is considered an asset.
- Excellent leadership, managerial and motivational skills demonstrating the ability to create a team that exceeds expectations within a healthy workplace environment.
- Skill and ability to drive organizational change in a manner that fosters collaboration.
- Superior communication skills, both written and verbal, excellent influencer and relationship builder.
- Proven success leading the implementation and governance of multiple projects and initiatives to drive change in the organization.
- Broad and in-depth knowledge of progressive practices, trends, etc. in all key facets of IT/IM aligned with this role and demonstrated experience successfully implementing such practices.
- Proven ability to establish the IT/IM functions as a value-added, strategic player in the organization’s success.
