Cape Breton Centre for Craft & Design is located in Unama'ki, the land of fog, the unceded and traditional territory of the Mi'kmaq. At the Centre we strive to honour and uphold the Treaties of Peace and Friendship made with the Mi'kmaq by celebrating the ongoing tradition of beautiful and creative craftsmanship of the First Peoples of this land.

Cape Breton Centre for Craft & Design (the Centre), has been serving the needs of the Unama'ki-Cape Breton craft sector for 53 years. The Centre's mandate is to promote, develop and support excellence in craft and design, both professional and recreational, through education and training.

Cape Breton Centre for Craft & Design is seeking a volunteer Treasurer for its Board of Directors.

The Centre is seeking a Treasurer with financial expertise and a commitment to our mission. We are looking for candidates who have a strong appreciation for the arts. The ideal candidate will be a community-minded individual with expertise in one or more of the following areas: accounting, financial management, budgeting, financial reporting, audit oversight, and governance.

Candidates must support the vision and mandate of the organization.

The Board term commenced in June 2025 and so the Treasurer position will begin immediately. The Treasurer is asked to serve for a minimum of three (3) years; is expected to attend five (5) Board meetings each year as well as the Annual General Meeting; will serve on the Finance Committee; and will work closely with the employee team on financial oversight and reporting. Please note that the work of the volunteer Treasurer may be accomplished remotely.
