Job Title: Kitchen Staff 

Reports To: Food Services Manager – Horizon Achievement Centre

Employment Type: Contract

Position Overview

The Kitchen Staff is responsible for overseeing daily kitchen operations at assigned location. This role ensures all meals are prepared according to provided recipes, safety standards, and delivery timelines, while providing direction and support to additional kitchen staff and Horizon program participants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, portion, and serve meals following provided recipes.
  • Assign tasks and provide guidance to general kitchen staff and Horizon participants.
  • Monitor food safety practices, including proper storage, preparation, and sanitization.
  • Maintain accurate records of food usage, inventory, and supply needs.
  • Act as a liaison between stakeholders and Horizon management.
  • Ensure cleanliness and readiness of kitchen and service areas.
  • Train and support staff and participants on proper food handling and kitchen processes.
  • Report equipment or operational issues promptly.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in food preparation or institutional/commercial kitchens.
  • Prior supervisory or lead-hand experience is an asset.
  • Valid Food Handler’s Safety Certification (required or willingness to obtain).
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on feet for extended periods.
  • Reliable, organized, and able to work independently.
