POSITION SUMMARY:

The Municipality of the County of Inverness is actively seeking full-time Onsite Construction Coordinators for two-year terms. These roles are pivotal in facilitating the planning, oversight, and execution of various Municipal projects, ensuring adherence to budgetary, scheduling, regulatory, safety standards, and quality assurance. Onsite Construction Coordinators will help manage construction activities across multiple project sites within the municipality, providing leadership in onsite construction safety, quality assurance, and geomatic data collection.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with municipal teams to establish project priorities and work plans.
  • Plan, schedule, organize, and evaluate construction projects from start to finish.
  • Develop and monitor construction timelines, ensuring adherence to schedules.
  • Review design drawings and specifications, providing feedback on construction plans.
  • Assist in contract preparation and negotiation with stakeholders.
  • Implement quality controls and resolve construction challenges.
  • Maintain daily project logs.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and safety standards, including leadership in onsite construction safety.
  • Coordinate safety programs, engineering, and contract administration.
  • Manage project documentation and travel to sites as required.
  • Oversee multiple projects, optimizing resource allocation.
  • Foster relationships with stakeholders and adjust schedules as needed.
  • Contribute to budget preparation and procurement efforts.
  • Uphold construction standards and track project costs.
  • Facilitate change order processes and safety inspections.
  • Ensure timely completion of inspections and final reviews.
  • Oversee field inspections, perform measurements, and enforce infrastructure testing requirements to ensure quality assurance.
  • Lead and participate in toolbox talks.
  • Collect survey data and utilize geomatics in confirming acceptance of work.

Construction Safety Oversight:

  • Lead and oversee onsite construction safety, ensuring the implementation of safety protocols.
  • Review contractor site-specific safety plans and ensure adherence to safety regulations.
  • Provide guidance and support to project teams in maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Conduct safety inspections and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to address safety concerns and promote a culture of safety.

Quality Assurance:

  • Oversee field inspections to ensure compliance with project documents, standards, and specifications.
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure the delivery of high-quality workmanship.
  • Identify and address any deviations from project requirements to maintain quality assurance.
  • Collaborate with project teams to develop and implement corrective actions as needed.

Data Collection:

  • Collect survey data and utilize geomatics technology to confirm the acceptance of completed work.
  • Ensure the accuracy and reliability of geomatic data for project documentation and reporting purposes.
  • Collaborate with surveying teams and stakeholders to collect and analyze geomatic data effectively.

SAFETY:

  • Ensure all policies and procedures set forth by the Municipality of the County of Inverness are always observed.
  • Report to the Deputy CAO, all work situations which are suspected of being unhealthy or unsafe.
  • Report to the Deputy CAO, any employee whose on-the-job performance or actions contravenes established safety procedures or work practices.
  • Report all near-misses and incidents to the Deputy CAO
  • Report to the Deputy CAO related injuries or property damage regardless of severity.
  • Submit reports on accidents and other hazardous conditions discovered and promptly attend to all hazardous situations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience:

  • Construction project management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in the construction industry.
  • Construction oversight with familiarity of different trades.
  • Degrees, diplomas, certifications, and other formal education related to construction project management is considered an asset.
  • Ability to interpret design drawings, standards, and specifications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Leadership experience.
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driver’s abstract

  • Organizational skills to manage deadlines and priorities.
  • Problem-solving skills and familiarity with project management systems.

Experience working with an infrastructure intensive organization:

  • Background in infrastructure-intensive environments, preferred.
  • Understanding of planning, resource management, and compliance.

  • Interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
