We seek an individual who loves sailing and can demonstrate a sailing resume and is capable of fulfilling First Mate duties. Successful candidate will have, or be willing to obtain, Transport Canada Domestic Vessel Safety certification (4 day course).
The successful candidate will have hands-on experience in maintaining a cruising sailboat including exterior and interior cleaning, routine checks on systems (electric, electronic, plumbing, steering, etc) and carrying out minor repairs to cabinetry, rigging, structure, etc.
The successful candidate will also be accomplished at machine sewing of sailcloth and marine canvas for repairs and new construction; and experienced at creating custom patterns for items such as canopies, equipment covers, baggage, etc. The owner’s goal is to provide year-round services in the marine and industrial sewing niche and the successful candidate will play a key role in developing capacity, training new staff and ultimately managing this aspect of the business.

Following the sailing season work will continue with marine canvas repair and fabrication work for customers; and maintenance of the company’s marine and shore facilities through the winter.
