Anchored Recruiting is delighted to partner with the Strait Area Chamber of Commerce to find a Communications and Special Projects Coordinator to be part of their small, hands-on team. 

Our client, the Strait Area Chamber of Commerce, is a progressive business development organization looking to ensure that the Strait Area is one of the best regions to invest, live, work, and conduct business.  This is a great opportunity for an Individual that is digitally-savvy and has a passion for communications. As the Communications and Special Projects Coordinator, you will take a lead role in developing strategic communications plans, public relations, social media, and the Chamber’s Workplace Education and Shop Local campaigns.
Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the successful candidate will need to have proficient writing skills and some knowledge of graphic design. They should be able to produce press releases, marketing materials, and weekly newsletters. The successful candidate must have a great work ethic, be professional, and thrive in a small team setting. Working hours for this position, although typically weekdays and Monday-Friday, the successful candidate must be flexible to work outside normal hours in the planning and execution of Chamber events.

We are seeking a driven, out-going multitasker, with a minimum of 2-3 years in a similar role. The candidate must be an excellent communicator with impeccable interpersonal and time management skills. Previous experience in WordPress, Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Programs would be a must. The Communications and Special Projects Coordinator must have strong networking skills, along with a high degree of attention to detail.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Develop strategy, content and design needed for all social media platforms
  • Interact with membership and create weekly communications through membership newsletters
  • Update and maintain look and content of website
  • Lead public relations and create and assist with all media inquiries and develop content needed
  • Identify and schedule guest speakers for membership as needed
  • Create all speaking notes for Executive Director and as needed for Chamber events
  • Work with Events coordinator on planning, coordination, and execution of all Chamber events.
  • Take lead role in development and coordination of the Chamber’s Workplace Education Project and the Shop Local Project
  • Participate as needed in meetings that advance the profile of the Strait Chamber
  • Lead additional projects as they arise to support current and future chamber members of the chamber

Our client is offering you:

  • Compensation for this position will range from $36,400-$45,500 based on experience

What you need to succeed:

  • You are detail-driven with strong organizational skills
  • You have good knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, and WordPress
  • You demonstrate exemplary customer service skills (high degree of diplomacy, tact, discretion and good judgement)
  • You can provide a high degree of professionalism dealing with a diverse group of people.
  • You have a passion for marketing, public relations, and communications
  • You are outgoing and creative
  • You thrive in a small team and a hands-on environment

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Post-Secondary diploma
  • Undergraduate degree is an asset
  • Minimum of 2-3 years in Communications and/or Public Relations
  • You have experience in Microsoft Program, Adobe Creative Cloud, and WordPress
