The Cape Breton Partnership administers two regional enterprise networks in Cape Breton. These Networks were established by the Province of Nova Scotia through the Department of Municipal Affairs and Housing, and encompasses the First Nation Communities and all five municipalities in Cape Breton.

About the Opportunity

The Cape Breton Partnership is recruiting a Business Planning Assistant for a 8-week summer placement.

General Description:

Reporting to the Economic Development Officer, or designate, you will assist with the following duties:

  • Working with the Business Planning Advisor to assist clients in the development of business plans for new start-up businesses, business expansions, or new investments being explored by clients of the Cape Breton Partnership; and
  • Assisting in the development of projected financial statements, including balance sheets, cash flow analyses, and income statements.

Specific Duties:

Specific duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting the Business Planning Advisor with writing internal and external communications to various stakeholders and collaborators such as the Canada Business Network;
  • Communicating with business planning clients;
  • Market research on various industries, products, and businesses;
  • Writing of business plans and portions of business plans including editing, proofreading and version control;
  • Document layout;
  • Data analysis; and
  • Assistance with other Cape Breton Partnership initiatives as required.

Additional Opportunities:

  • Support the Business Planning Advisor and other Cape Breton Partnership team members in the delivery of other related projects and services for business and investment;
  • Content creation and information updates for Cape Breton Partnership websites and other promotional materials; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications: Must be a youth between the ages of 15-30 to qualify for the federal funding.
