The Cape Breton Partnership is seeking a passionate driven individual to fill the role of a Navigator to support the attraction and retention of healthcare professionals in the CBRM. This is a one-year contract that may be extended subject to funding renewal.

The Cape Breton Partnership is Cape Breton-Unama’ki’s private sector-led economic development organization. Talent attraction and retention is a key area of focus for the Cape Breton Partnership. This role is intended to support the Cape Breton Partnership, and the newly formed committee, in attracting and retaining healthcare professionals.

Duties include:

  • Support the newly formed CBRM Committee in creating its mandate, objectives and Terms of Reference (TOR).
  • Promote the CBRM to healthcare professionals as a great place to live, work & invest.
  • Participate in the Navigator Network and other provincial/regional committees to identify common issues and solutions.
  • Collaborate with Committee members to identify and address barriers to the attraction and retention of healthcare professionals in the CBRM.
  • Provide ongoing planning and administrative support to the CBRM Committee members.
  • Conduct follow-ups and maintain ongoing communication with healthcare professionals who are receiving immigration support from the Cape Breton Partnership.
  • Build business, community and government relationships within the region to aid in the response and organization of efficient recruitment site visits.
  • Support the planning and execution of an advertising campaign to attract health professionals to our area.
  • Connect directly with health care professionals to enhance the quality of their visit quality and follow-up with them after their visit.
  • Work with recruiters to develop an experience plan for recruitment visits
  • Work with recruiters to identify and implement ways to retain healthcare professional students in the CBRM.
  • Reach out to existing healthcare professionals in the region to discuss needs, gaps, and challenges.
  • Engage healthcare professionals and organize activities that recognize their contribution, connect them to resources as needed, and provide opportunities for them to participate fully in recruitment activities.
  • Provide a monthly report to the Committee and progress update on initiatives during the scheduled Committee calls.
  • Participate in training opportunities when they become available. 
  • Other duties as required.

  • University or college degree/diploma in a related discipline (e.g. Human Resources, Planning, Administration, Public Health) or a minimum of two years of experience in an administrative role;
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitation and collaboration to advance initiatives involving multiple stakeholders;
  • Exceptional oral, verbal and written English communication skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and effectively with minimal direction;
  • Demonstrated ability to be involved and familiar with the CBRM community;
  • Passionate and driven to learn about a complex regulated field;
  • Passionate about promoting and living in the CBRM;
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Confident, social and capable of building long-term relationships.
