Reporting to the Oncology Health Services Manager, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides comprehensive and coordinated care to patients as a member of a highly collaborative/ interprofessional primary care team. The NP partners with and complements other members of the health care team for the achievement of person and family centred care, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, monitoring and evaluation of patient health and treatment outcomes, screening and health promotion, early detection of illness and disease, chronic disease management, continuity and coordination of care and enhanced access to programs, services and community resources.
The NP adheres to the NSCN Standards for Nursing Practice and the Code of Ethics and is responsible and accountable at all times for their own practice consistent with relevant legislation, professional and ethical standards. The NP is accountable to identify, analyze and evaluate activities that are reflective of quality improvement initiatives.
The NP ensures that the principles and practices that guide Nova Scotia Health (NSH) such as the vision, mission, values, expected behaviors, the leadership philosophy, organizational health, population health, ethics, safety, quality, partnerships and interdisciplinary collaboration are integrated within the support that is provided by the work that they do and through the messages they deliver.
Requirements
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Masters of Nursing – Advanced Nursing Practice stream (including completion of 700 hours of clinical practice)
- Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Nurse Practitioner with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing
- Preferred CNA Certificate of Competence in Oncology
- 2 years of nursing experience in radiation/oncology preferred
- Demonstrated interpersonal and organizational skills with an emphasis on leadership, decision-making, critical thinking skills, motivation/initiative, communication skills, consultative approach and the ability to conceptualize and plan
- Demonstrated aptitude for progressive, creative and innovative thinking
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and be accountable for all actions and decisions as well as able to work in a collaborative practice environment
- Competencies in other languages preferred, French an asset

$53.08 - $62.22 Hourly
$64.22 with 25 years of NP experience

Successful candidates may also be eligible for a signing bonus and relocation assistance with a defined Return of Service contract
