Keltic Quay has 12 cottage suites and a guest lodge, is pet-friendly and is located on the Bras d’Or Lakes on Cape Breton Island.  It is ranked as one of the top places to stay in Cape Breton and is also ranked 4.5 stars with Canada Select.  

We are looking for two remarkable people who are mature, energetic, personable and trustworthy to work together as a management, customer service and maintenance team.   Keltic Quay is open year round and these are full time positions.  A joint resume with information listed separately for both applicants can be submitted or a resume for each applicant. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Providing exceptional customer service and professionalism to our guests. 
  • Managing all elements of the reception desk – phone, email and social media inquiries, taking and cancelling reservations, checking guests in and out, managing booking.com and airbnb reservations and cancellations. 
  • Maintaining our very high standards for cleanliness of the interiors of the cottages, the lodge and all exteriors of the buildings and property. 
  • Hiring, managing, training, scheduling and supervising other staff.
  • Keeping grounds maintained by watering and mowing grass, bug spraying, trimming weeds, maintaining shrubs and watering and weeding flower beds, summer flowers and baskets.
  • Cleaning rooms and all areas of the lodge daily as needed and also ensuring bi-annual extra deep cleaning is done in the Spring and Fall.
  • Laundry.
  • Decorating the lodge for the various seasons and events (Christmas, Fall, meetings, parties etc).
  • Hiring and managing other professionals as needed (plumbers, electricians etc.).
  • Ordering and purchasing supplies for the resort as required (towels, cleaning supplies, miscellaneous cottage requirements etc.).
  • Organizing and assisting with hosting events such as organizational meetings, parties and family & friend gatherings.
  • Performing general maintenance and repairs, painting and assisting with any upgrades to the property.
  • Managing and collecting any direct bill invoices for stays at the resort.
  • Various office functions such as bank deposits, submitting daily audit reports & occupancy reports, posting credit card transactions and providing information to the accounting office upon request. 
  • Ensuring the health and safety of staff and guests through regular hazard assessments and following all health and safety laws and protocols.

 

Work schedule:

  • The lodging industry does not conform to the typical 8-5, Monday to Friday schedule.  Coverage is required onsite 24 hours per day/7 days a week while open.  The office/reception desk coverage is from 8am to 9pm daily (there is a call button for service if you aren’t in the office).  Either a member of the management team or another trusted staff member must provide coverage. 
  • Days off and paid vacation to be provided and agreed upon based on the applicants’ needs and the needs of the resort.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • This job requires a self-motivated couple with energy and positive personalities to provide exceptional customer service to our guests and leadership to other staff.  Ideally one person would have good general maintenance skills.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time, handle heavy loads, bend, push and pull, kneel, reach overhead and go up and down stairs.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Pet lovers or pet owners preferred.
  • Experience in the hospitality/lodging industry and in supervision of employees is preferred.
  • A clean criminal record check is required for both applicants.
  • We have a zero-tolerance policy for alcohol or drug use while on duty.
  • A valid drivers license.
  • Basic Computer skills.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time, handle heavy loads, bend, push and pull, kneel, reach overhead and go up and down stairs.
