Position: Full Time Term (36 Months)

Hours of Work: Monday – Friday 8:30 – 4:30 (Subject to change)

Job Location: Sydney, Nova Scotia (Office based, with ability to work remotely as required)

Compensation Package: $90,000 - $100,000 based on experience

Anchored Recruiting is delighted to partner with the Sydney Airport Authority to find a Manager of Infrastructure to join their team.  The Sydney Airport has been in operation since March of 1947 and officially became the Sydney Airport Authority in October 1997. As the Manager of Infrastructure, you will be a member of the Sydney Airport Authority Senior Leadership team. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will be responsible for planning and directing the Sydney Airport Authority Capital Plan, funding applications (ACAP) while being responsible for all buildings, facilities, and infrastructure on airport lands ensuring the airport is following all applicable regulations. As the Manager of Infrastructure, you must have the ability and willingness to assume ownership and responsibility for the position with accurate and timely completion of their work.

Core Accountabilities:

  • Plan, Manage and direct the Sydney Airport Authority Capital Program by identifying needs and developing a 3–5-year Capital Plan/Budget and leading its development and implementation once it has received Board Approval
  • Communicating with consulting engineers and government officials on engineers, planning and environmental matters associated with the Airport property and Capital Projects to exchange information and obtain/give technical advice to ensure the airport is in compliance with regulations.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the capital project management including development of the scope of work and/or tender specifications, preparation of tender calls, development of the bid evaluation matrix, maintenance of project documentation, arranging and attending site meetings, and managing project work to ensure work is being carried out as planned, specified and on budget
  • Develop, in consultation with the Director of Operations, Safety and Security, standard operating plans, as well as contingency plans to ensure operational safety and compliance with regulations
  • Conducting studies, preparing reports and advising the CEO and Board of Directors on feasibility and cost-effectiveness of capital and special projects
  • Responsible for supporting the Director of Operations, Safety and Security for all aerodrome security related matters which include but are not limited to:
    • Maintaining and monitoring equipment and control systems used to ensure security throughout the aerodrome including security cameras, automated doors and gates, fencing, signage, alarm altering systems, etc.
    • Coordinating additional security requirements for special events and activities such as airside construction, drag racing, air shows and dignitary/celebrity arrivals and liaising with Transport Canada and the airline industry Canadian Airports Council to keep pace with current information and best practices
  • Responsible for supporting the Airport Emergency Plan and Process, the Wildlife Management Plan, as well as the Sydney Airport Authority Management Team with things such as strategic planning, committees and more.
  • Fulfill the duties of the Director of Operations, Safety and Security in their absence
  • Participate as a Member of the CAC Environmental Committee representing the Sydney Airport Authority
  • Communicate information both verbally and in writing in a clear and thorough manner with all levels of the organizations
Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Engineering Degree or Post-secondary education in University or College level in Engineering, Construction or Technology
  • Experience in managing large scale, time sensitive capital projects preferably in the airport/aviation industry
  • Technical ability to work with CAD drawings and various computer software programs related to project management, etc.
  • Strong management skills including but not limited to, organization, project management, planning, scheduling, communication, presentations, etc.
  • Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of people including CEO, Board of Directors, staff, tenants, suppliers, customers, contractors and government regulators
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Aviation Regulations, Canadian Aviation Security Regulations and Aerodrome Standards and Recommended Practices considered an asset
  • Valid Driver’s license and Criminal Record Checks are required
  • Must be able to obtain Restricted Radio License Aeronautical, and a “D” Airside Vehicle Operators Permit (AVOP) status
