Description
Major Responsibilities:
- Facilitates client abilities assessment
- Develops injury prevention strategies including recommendations for equipment and other programs
- Completes mobility assessments and follow up
- Provides support to program area managers and staff as a content expert
Tasks:
- Provides resources to support Agency Director including evidence-based reports and injury analysis reports
- Completes assessments in client homes and provides recommendations
- Collaborates with outside partners as needed to support employee health (i.e., maintains contact with vendors and PT/OTs in community)
- Develops, implements, and evaluates education and awareness programs such as injury prevention
- Liaises with Aware NS, WCB, and other health and safety organizations
- Provides advice to managers regarding disability management and occupational health and safety concerns
- Participates as a member of committees as needed
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy
- Current member in good standing with relevant professional college
- Annual CPR and First Aid Certification
- Three to Five years of relevant work experience (an asset)
- Experience in disability management preferred
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Works in accordance with Provincial Acts and other legislation including OH&S, WCB Act and Human Rights
- Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships both internally and externally
- Knowledge of the following: Safe Client Handling and Mobility, Risk Management Procedures, Provincial Acts and Legislation, Safe Client Handling Tools, and Equipment
- Strong Verbal, written communication, and assessment skills
- Adult education experience (an asset)
- Ability to meet expectations of regular and consistent attendance within corporate standard of 4%
- Ability to demonstrate safe work practices and lift up-to 35 lbs.
- Ability to travel within the Eastern zone and work outside of regular business hours on occasion
- Valid Driver's License with appropriate insurance
- Current criminal record check
