Description
The Department of Education at Cape Breton University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Teacher Education. The appointment will be effective January 1, 2023, or as negotiated with the successful candidate.

Ideal candidates will have the potential to make educational leadership contributions through innovative course and program design and delivery; and will provide evidence of leadership activities connected to educational communities and/or policy makers.

The successful candidate is expected to develop and teach primarily online graduate courses. Experience in online curriculum and program development, course development, design, delivery and support, and program evaluation and revision is considered an asset. Teaching in, and contributing to, Bachelor of Education programming is an expectation.

Teaching is assigned in accordance with the collective agreement. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a robust research program and assume educational leadership responsibilities, such as curriculum development, evaluation, innovation, course coordination, graduate teaching assistant supervision, thesis supervision, and other leadership roles.

Requirements
Applicants for this position must have earned doctoral degree (or be enrolled and nearing completion) in an area relevant to Cape Breton University’s education programming, have experience working within P-12 school systems and community contexts, and show evidence of successful university-level teaching in graduate teacher education courses.

Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in online course design and delivery for teacher education and expertise in one or more of the following areas:
  • Science education
  • Educational technology
  • Mathematics education
  • Positive school health and well-being
  • Education for sustainability Equity, Diversity, Culturally Responsive Pedagogies
  • Curriculum
