Position: Full Time, Permanent

Hours of Work: Monday – Friday, 9:00AM – 5:00PM

Job Location: Sydney, NS (Hybrid Opportunity)

Compensation Package: $80,000 annual salary, 3 weeks paid vacation, paid sick time, paid holidays, medical benefits, and more!

Anchored Recruiting is delighted to partner with Every Woman’s Centre to find an Executive Director to join their growing team.

Every Woman’s Centre offers a wide range of services to support women in dealing with personal and social issues that may arise in their daily lives. Whether it’s finding available resources within the community, agencies or support, Every Woman’s Centre is a hub where women can access holistic services provided by trauma-informed staff. Every Woman’s Centre exists to promote, develop and support the enhancement of women’s lives in Cape Breton Communities within the context of a feminist analysis. Every Woman’s Centre takes the term Every Woman seriously and uses the term woman at its most inclusive.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will advance the vision and mission of Every Woman’s Centre and will achieve the Centre’s outcomes through practices guided by the organization’s core. The Executive Director will work closely with the Board of Directors to ensure there is continued leadership of the Centre in the advancement of feminist capacity building through innovation, advocacy, and action.

Core Accountabilities:

  • Actively engage with the Board of Directors in the strategic direction, purpose, and overall organizational wellness.
  • Increase the social impact of Every Woman’s Centre’s program by ensuring increased reach and accessibility of existing programs and adapting to changing needs.
  • Responsible for building strong relationships with key government representatives and rightsholders.
  • Responsible for ensuring there are strong communications with the community to share the impact and advocacy of Every Woman’s Centre values, ways of work, and programs.
  • Responsible for leading and developing a successful team that is committed to the vision and mission of the Centre.
  • Responsible for ensuring appropriate fiscal controls are in place to comply with accountability to the Board, funders, and regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure there are continued improvements in the organizational and operational performance of the Centre.
  • Responsible for increasing, strengthening and diversifying the organizations funding sources.
  • Ensure consistent coaching and mentoring of staff to maintain high standards of performance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience within a small to medium-sized non-profit, association, or large department is required.
  • An undergraduate degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, Public Administration, Public Policy, or commensurate experience in an equivalent field is preferred.
  • Previous experience working with a Board of Directors is considered an asset. 
  • Experience working in social services sectors and/or not-for-profit community-focused organizations or entities is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience addressing systemic barriers that impact women’s lives is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience working collaboratively with a variety of rightsholders from both public and private sectors is considered an asset.
  • Strong financial background and experience in operations. This includes the development of budgets, achieving budget goals, and accurate financial forecasting, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, motivate, inspire, and engage employees and volunteers in the organization’s mission.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the proven ability to build strong relationships, networks, and prospects within and across a variety of sectors.
  • High level of professionalism in dealing with diverse groups of people, including Board members, management, staff, community leaders, and government partners.
  • Exceptional time-management skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • A demonstratable successful track record of establishing organizational priorities.
  • Ability to successfully write funding proposals.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information.
  • A valid driver’s license with reliable transportation is required.
  • A clear criminal record check and vulnerable sector check is required.
